Product & Installation
You can download the complete SKiiBOX user manual (installation, safety instructions, maintenance, and warranty) here: Download the SKiiBOX User Manual (PDF).
Skiibox fits most vehicles equipped with a standard tow bar. To check whether your specific car brand and model is compatible, please visit our compatibility page, where you’ll find a full list of vehicles that have been reviewed and tested. Tested models are clearly marked, and the list is continuously updated. If your vehicle hasn’t been tested yet, feel free to contact us for assistance or check back soon for updates.
In most cases, the trunk remains fully accessible while the SKiiBOX is mounted. However, clearance may vary depending on your vehicle’s design and tow bar height. For verified examples and detailed fitment guidance, please refer to our compatibility page.
Safety & Legal
Yes — a box on the tow bar counts as load on the vehicle. In Norway the rules for protruding load are set out in the regulation on the use of vehicles (forskrift om bruk av kjøretøy § 3-4), and two limits decide what applies to you:
- Total width, including the load, must not exceed 2.55 m.
- The load must not protrude more than 15 cm beyond either side of the vehicle.
Stay within both and you need neither an exemption nor any special marking. From 15 cm the marking requirements apply, and going beyond 15 cm requires an exemption from Statens vegvesen — in practice a demanding process.
Because SKiiBOX is mounted across the back of the car, the length you choose should match the width of your vehicle. Our compatibility page shows which size suits your model. The box must always be securely fastened, and the driver is responsible for the load.
